For the first 12 years of his practice, Barbosa’s was in general litigation, with extensive trial experience in Federal and State Courts, both as 1st and 2nd chair, representing a number of Fortune 500 companies in all phases of litigation.

His focus expanded in the last 9 years to also include the areas of general commercial transaction and litigation, contract negotiations and enforcement, as well as other business and commercial law matters.

Barbosa founded MABLAW-KC in 2020 in order to put his years of experience to work for individuals and small businesses seeking outstanding commercial legal services in Kansas, Missouri, and elsewhere.

Barbosa earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2004, and began his legal career in private practice immediately upon being admitted to practice of law in Missouri (2004) and subsequently in Kansas (2005). He worked for two national firms in Kansas City for 16 years.

Throughout, Barbosa has earned the respect of the legal community, and recognized as a highly rated lawyer.

Barbosa holds his license to practice in Missouri and Kansas, and is admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in Missouri and Kansas as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th and 10th Circuits, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Barbosa is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the National Bar Association (NBA), the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), the Kansas Bar Association (KBA), the Missouri Bar (MoBAR), the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA), the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), and the Jackson County Bar Association (JCBA).

Barbosa has been selected for inclusion in Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers®, (2015-Present), Selected for inclusion in Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers®-Rising Stars, (2012-2014), Named to Lawyers of Color’s Hot List (2014), Award winner of the Center for Legal Inclusiveness’ Step Up For Diversity Campaign (Top Participant) (May 2012), and Graduate of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellows Program, (2011).

Barbosa is most proud of being a father to Dominick and Olivia. He is fluent in English and Portuguese and proficient in Spanish.
